GOOD FOOD GUIDE 2017 Castle Cottage in Harlech, North Wales has again joined an illustrious list of longest serving UK restaurants in the guide for 2017. We are one of only FIVE listed in Wales. (Porth Tocyn, the Druidstone, Cnapan, Ynyshir Hall, and US!) We took over Castle Cottage in 1989 and for the last 25 years have had a continuous entry in the guide. This is no mean feat and we are delighted to have this award for consistency. The guide was founded in 1951 by Raymond Postgate who had this quote; "You can corrupt one man. You can't bribe an army"

We came in at second place (behind Porth Tocyn, Abersoch) and earned ourselves an Highly Commended Award. We had a fantastic night at Carden Park Hotel, and looking forward to next year already!

My Yummy Valentine
Good food, fine wine and no need to order a taxi home. Thank Cupid for restaurants-with-rooms - Elizabeth Carter, consultant editor, The Which? Good Food Guide, The Guardian Saturday January 27 2007
"...Glyn and Jacqueline Roberts have recently renovated their characterful 400-year-old restaurant-with-rooms near the 13th-century castle. The three-course menu, however, still bears Glyn's stamp. Canapés in the bar are followed by aromatic lamb pancakes with hoisin sauce or duck liver and Cointreau parfait with a fruit chutney and toasted brioche. Main courses might consist of free-range Shropshire chicken breast with a wild mushroom and Madeira sauce, or a duet of Welsh beef - grilled fillet mignon and a steak, kidney and mushroom suet pudding with red wine sauce. Follow that with grilled prunes wrapped in bacon on toast or more traditional treacle tart with nutmeg ice cream. There are seven spacious bedrooms in a strikingly converted 16th-century building next door where beams and standing timbers contrast with contemporary furniture, brushed steel light fittings and ultra-modern bathrooms".
